We Need Jobs And Mayor Schmitz Needs HELP not ANCHORS

DOTHAN AND HOUSTON COUNTY:    Recently I went to Graceville Florida to eat at GRADY'S. A great seafood restuarant known for their shrimp. They are open Wednesday through Saturday.

On Wednesday there were 7 employees working plus the owner and his wife. A total of 9 people earning a living from the restuarant. Great food and service.

BUT THAT GOT ME TO THINKING ABOUT MY CITY AND COUNTY

On Tuesday a man made application with the City of Dothan for a license to sell alcohol at a business . The issue died because no one on the commission made a motion. There were problems with his application.

The shame is not one single City of Dothan staff member, many of which make six figures, cared enough to call the man in and go over his application before the meeting. They had rather flex their muscles of embarrassment and humiliation because they are the giant. But in doing so, they hurt the man's ego, his pride, and the potential of a new business and people having jobs.

Mayor Mike Schmitz has worked to bring jobs to Dothan. The bad part is Schmitz has to drag 6 or more anchors being the fellow commissioners. Outside of perhaps John Ferguson, name one ( I do not know the temporary commissioner) but name one Dothan Commissioner you would want to join you in job recruitment.

Then name WHO in Dothan and Houston Count works with and attempts to let the little person start a business. The red tape required by Dothan in starting a business. Unreal. That is why a Dothan business is constructing in Cowarts OUTSIDE Dothan city limits.

In Houston County, Chairman Culver looks at how to incorporate himself into a business. He partnered with Glassstream in a screen printing business near Mt. Gilead Church. Even before they ever started building boats. Culver looked after what he could make money on first - on the county car! The citizens are second.

I am puzzled. I made Commissioner Albert Kirkland mad because I called his hand on 5 jobs he help lose. Then he failed to look after another major employer. Rather than listen Kirkland decided to wrap his hands around my throat.

But if Mayor Schmitz does not get some support from the anchors he is dragging, Enterprise is going to pass Dothan.

EACH job is important. The one lost could be yours. And to the government employees, you seem to fail to see private jobs are important. All are not as lucky as you are.
