Numerous showers and storms are expected to develop this afternoon, particularly over the western and central parts of our forecast area. The storms should be very slow moving and will produce heavy rain rates. That combination may yield localized very heavy rainfall and flash flooding. Our recent stretch of dry weather may keep the threat somewhat isolated.
A few of the storms this afternoon could also produce some gusty winds, particularly from the western Florida Panhandle into southeast Alabama. Slow moving storms with heavy rain will remain possible on Friday and perhaps into the weekend. As additional rounds of storms occur, a continued threat of localized heavy rainfall and flooding may continue over the next several days.
NOW
Storms are beginning to move into the southern part of Houston County. These storms consist of heavy rainfall, lightening and some wind. Stay alert to the weather as storms develop through the afternoon
