Well it’s that time of year again, the weather cools off and the peanut harvest is in, the National Peanut Festival opens its gates. Approximately half of the peanuts grown in the United States are grown within a 100-mile radius of Dothan, Alabama. Every year the National Peanut Festival (NPF) -- the nation's largest peanut festival -- is held to honor peanut growers and to celebrate the harvest season. National Peanut Festival is one of the high lights in this celebration. The fairgrounds are located on Highway 231 South just three miles south of the Ross Clark Circle. Since the very first festival and parade it has grown more and more each year. If you have never been to the festival and experienced the thrill of the rides, the petting zoo the world famous corn dogs and elephant ears you have been missing out. The festival has a lot to offer the entire family from live concerts, amusement ride, arts and crafts, agriculture displays, beauty pageants and plenty of food to choose from and tons of peanuts to enjoy. This year the gates open at 4 pm on Friday November 2nd. $25 Mega Passes & $20 Dothan McDonald's Armbands will be available until 4:00 PM on Thursday, November 1st. After this time Mega Passes will not be available and $20 McDonald's (11/2/12 use only) armbands will only be available on the midway.
