Samson, AL: Moments ago, Samson Police Department and Samson Volunteer Rescue Squad were dispatched to a victim of a Rattle Snake bite. It was determined that the snake was not a Rattle Snake, but a Copper Head. Samson Rescue Squad quickly responded to the scene and transported the victim to Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva, AL running Emergency Traffic. The subject was bitten in the leg portion of the body. The subject stated that the snake bit him at the First Baptist Church, and he walked to the Hobo Pantry to call 911. The victim picked the snake up after it bit him and carried it to the Hobo Pantry.
Note: Samson Police Officers Chris Miranda, Jeff Moring, K-9 Officer Cass, and Reserve Police Officer Cory Dean responded to the scene within seconds and determined the snake was not a Rattle Snake, but a Copper Head snake.
Sorry for the picture being blurry. I was in a hurry to get out of the vehicle to go find the snake. The snake was already placed into the ambulance when I arrived on scene.
The second picture is a picture of the Rattle Snake killed earlier in the day in Samson. The black circled part is the snake's head.
