ENTERPRISE: Tonight I attended the announcement for Kenneth Boswell re-election as Mayor for the City of Enterprise. It was held at the Enterprise Civic Center.
What a surprise? Hundreds of people attended the event for Mayor Boswell to announce his intentions to seek re-election. The event was scheduled to begin at 5:30 but was delayed because people kept coming in.
Mayor Boswell has served for several terms as Mayor. He has been successful in bringing industry and jobs to Enterprise. He has improved infrastructure, streets and facilities in Enterprise.
Tonight he made some surprise announcements of things to come and in the works for the future growth.
Boswell committed to working with state and federal leadership. He committed to pursue grant dollars. By the way Boswell and team have gotten over $ 50 million in grant dollars for the City of Enterprise since 2004.
Mayor Boswell stressed strong that he will work to protect Ft. Rucker against Sequester and BRAC.
Mayor Boswell pledged to continue to go after economic development prospects to grow Enterprise and to create jobs.
Mayor Boswell continues to commit to being accessible to the citizens of Enterprise.
Some projects ongoing and working on: Complete sidewalk project; relocate central fire station; revitalize city hall in three phases; Bates Memorial Stadium; finish Dauphin Street project; finish the Airport project; pool and tennis courts at the college.
Some mid range goals: Museum and Cultural Arts Center; Water system and infrastructure; streets; sanitary sewer.
Mayor Boswell identified some long term plans. Mayor Boswell said you have to plan and be ready for the future. Mayor Boswell identified some of those long range plans which we will present in part two of this announcement.
Boswell is the only announced candidate for Enterprise Mayor. Tonight there was a huge crowd of support for his re-election. A great testimony to his service as Mayor for several terms and his apparent overwhelming support for the future.
