The mother of the 18 year old, Tammy Martin, has been quoted in saying the couple began dating three months ago, but she had no idea the girl was only 13 years old. Reports are the 18 young man may not have realized her age either, which may have prompted him to take off.
Hayes now faces sentences of one to five years for a felony burglary for which he in on bond. The Sheriff beleives thay the 13 year old is with Hayes because she is infatuated with him.
NOTICE OF A REALITY ISSUE IN SOCIETY
Realizing all of the facts in this 18 and 13 are not known. I am going to relate a local case.
A young man is charged with RAPE 2nd Degree in Houston County. The suspect is age 22 and the girl is 15. However, she led him to beleive she is age 18. They are reported to have sex. The young man, when questioned by law enforcement phrase t he questions, we need to talk to you about RAPE. The young man, never have had any interactions with law enforcement, says, wait...we had sex but it was consenual.
The young man then learns, son, she was 15 years old. WAIT...she told me that she was 18. At age 18 and his being 22, sex was legal if consenual.
But, with her at the age of 15, the Alabama law does not give a element for her to be a liar to the man.
Put yourself in the young years. In no way is this article meant to approve premarital sex, but it is reality. If your passion has ever got to the point of almost sex, have you EVER IN YOUR LIFE said, STOP!!! Let me see your ID?
Now the 22 year old is facing a felony for RAPE. Heis facing always being a registered sex offender the rest of his life. Which wil haunt his life.
NOW, I met my wife at age 22 or 23 and I was 28. There is 5 years different in our ages. And there is NO PROBLEM in our ages nor were there problems when we met.
Back that issue to high school. I would have been 18 and she would have been 13. When I started looking at this article, WOW.
So they should have not been in the trouble and on the run. But parents find out their "angel" had sex with this boy and he was 18. They possibly do not realize, not saying she did, but the entire time she might have led him to beleive she was 18.
What I have described is reality. You might want to shoot the messenger, me, but read the messsage first.
GLAD the two kids are safe.
Prosecutors with common sense are few and far between, most especally when TV cameras are present. They have to beat their chest and attempt to look one way publically. When in reality, they should use common sense.
