What If Florida Had Same Attitude As Alabama? It could be YOU!!!

DALE COUNTY, OZARK, MIDLAND CITY, HOUSTON COUNTY, DOTHAN, HENRY COUNTY, HEADLAND, ABBEVILLE ALABAMA:     Is it not great that Florida does not have the same attitude as Alabama?

Every year we see area law enforcement agencies move concentration to spring passing through the area to Florida. As the “out of state” license plates pass through our community area law enforcement pull them over.  They find some reason or intimidate the person into giving permission for the officers to take all of their possessions from the vehicle, go through their luggage and belongings and search for drugs.

One might say, great…the officers are protecting the local public from intoxicated or impaired drivers. However, they are not charged with “under the influence” they are charged with possession only. The majority of which are charged with misdemeanor offenses.

Our area gets known for a trap.

When the cases go to trial, the officers have testified as to the probable cause for the initial traffic stop…” improper lane change on Highway 231 South in front of Wal-Mart on spring break weekend”, “the tag light was out” “they traveled to long in the left lane” ( when Garmin was telling them to prepare for  a left turn ahead ).

Officers make the traffic stop, then come up with an excuse of a reason to make a traffic stop and an excuse to search the vehicle. They then come up with a misdemeanor offense to make a charge. If they vehicle is paid for they come up with an excuse to seize the vehicle.

If the drivers are impaired, then yes the officers are working to save the lives of the people of the wiregrass. However they are not being charged with being impaired, only possession.

The spring breakers are not tearing up the community with burglaries. They are not tearing up the community with robberies. They are not selling illegal products in the community to our resident. They are only stopping and spending money for gas and food. They are passing through our community going to Florida.

If Florida took the same position, if they are from out of state, stop the vehicle, look for reasons to take ALL of their possessions from the vehicle, pull all of their personal belongings out of the vehicle on the side of the road, and find one joint.

All the while, robberies are occurring, burglaries are occurring, thefts are occurring, and the spring breakers passing through are not the suspects.

While it is fun, law enforcement resources are not being expended wisely. Yes, the mere possession is against the law. I am in no way supporting the possession. However, when law enforcement administrators claim they do not have enough officers to protect and stop the burglaries and crime, what should be the priority?

Maybe Florida should stop all Alabama license plates and search them.

Alabama is profiling and it is wrong.
