We try and try to come up with new ways for people to participate in the Southeast’s largest cooking competition, the Tri-State BBQ festival which is April 10-11 at the Houston County Farm Center in Dothan. Not everyone can gook great BBQ, so we also have a gizzard cook off, a kids cook and now a sweet tea competition. Everyone can make sweet tea! 

For a $20 entry fee to get 2 tickets in to the BBQ Festival on Saturday April 11 (that’s a $20 value right there) and you bring your half gallon of home made sweet tea to the Wiregrass Seniors Booth (to the right of the main gate) for judging. The winner gets $100. It’s that easy. So far, we only have SIX folks signed up so your chances are really good! 

 Now you can prove you make the best sweet tea in town and show the Wiregrass you are the best and win $100. Wiregrass Seniors Magazine is sponsoring this contest, and will award a cash prize too the best sweet tea, as determined by a panel of celebrity judges. The entry fee, $20, covers the cost of 2 tickets in to the festival on Saturday so you and a friend can turn in your tea and be judged. You can also enjoy the rest of Saturday’s activities (car show, bands, free treats from Blue Bell Ice Cream, BBQ sampling, free shows, free mini golf and a whole lot more!) after your tea is judged.
