B.E.S.T is a non- profit, volunteer-based organization headquartered at Auburn University. Its mission is to inspire students to pursue careers in engineering, science, and technology through sports-like, science and engineering-based robotics competitions.
Wicksburg B.E.S.T has been working very studiously for the past four weeks on the exhibit, notebooks, and of course the robot. W.A.S.A, Wicksburg’s Association of Scientific Automation has a team organization structure; at the top are Board of Directors- Mrs. Hudson, Mrs. Yarbrough, and Mr. and Mrs. Probert. The CEO and VPs are next. Our CEO is Brian Probert, and our VPs consist of Veronica King, Marketing; Joel LeRose, Administration; Macy Morris, Engineering and Manufacturing; Bradley Probert, Public Relations. Our fundraisers include the following: selling buttons, hosting “Hat Day”, and received donations from Red Elephant. Our sponsors include Airgas, Dothan Medical, Allen Probert, Integrated Global, and the Wicksburg High School Panthers.
Our team has been interviewed by the Dothan Eagle, WOOF News (It aired on 99.7 WOOF-FM and also a 3 Minute story on our Sister station Sportstalk AM 560 / FM 100.1 The Ball) and by 95.5. We have hosted assemblies and many different school activities. Game Day is on October 27, 2012, from 9:00AM-3:30PM. Our exhibit will be on display until noon. During the final events, we will be scored on the following: Project Engineering Notebook- 25 points, Marketing Presentation- 25 points, Team Exhibit and Interviews- 20 points, Spirit and Sportsmanship- 15 points, and Robot Performance- 15 points. We have worked diligently to get to where we are now, and we would appreciate everyone to come out and support us on Game Day!
