HOUSTON COUNTY:  3:58 PM.  In an arrest made by Dothan Police Department, Denise Reed, was arrested for felony a Theft of Property in the first degree.


Reed was booked into Dothan City Jail and transported then to the jail her husband, Houston County Sheriff Captain Keith Reed is in charge of.


Reed posted a $ 5,000.00 cash bond in the form of certified funds.


The allegations against Reed are a ring valued at almost $ 4,000.00 was taken from her employer, Marks and Morgan.


Captain Keith Reed was a former Sergeant with Dothan Police Department. Under the former Dothan Police Chief John Powell Reed was demoted from Sergeant to Corporal. Powell's tenure with Dothan almost 100 or more Dothan Police staff quit, were terminated or demoted.


When Andy Hughes was elected Houston County Sheriff he hired Reed as Jail Warden. There have been a lot of complaints against Reed and the jail management. It appears Reed thinks everyone arrested is guilty and treats them that way. Well, until now. I think he can see everyone arrested might not be guilty.


There have also been accusations were Captain Reed has falsified time sheets. Indicating he has worked when it was clear he had not.


Denise Reed has been released from jail.


All persons arrested does not indicate they are guilty.


NOTE:  Since Reed has been Captain of the Houston County Jail more than 200 have come and gone as employees of the jail.
