Rain could mix with or transition to sleet across areas northwest of Dothan, mainly Dale and Coffee Counties between 2 and 5 AM CST. See attached graphic. Surface temperatures will be near or above freezing when precipitation falls; freezing rain appears unlikely at this time.
Little to no sleet/ice accumulation is forecast and therefore no winter weather advisory will be necessary.
Hazardous driving conditions are also not expected at this time as any wet spots should evaporate before freezing temps arrive. One or two slick spots on bridges and overpasses cannot be ruled out for a couple of hours.
Wind Chills: Widespread upper teens and lower 20s Saturday & Sunday mornings Southeast Alabama, Southwest Georgia and the Florida Panhandle north and west of Panama City will see wind chill readings into the upper teens to around 20 degrees Saturday morning. See attached graphic.
A wind chill advisory will like be issued later this evening. Wind chill advisories are issued when the wind chill drops to 20 degrees or lower with winds of at least 5 mph.
These wind chills are dangerous to individuals who will be exposed to the elements for prolonged periods of time.
We have high confidence that our entire area will see wind chills in the upper teens or lower 20s around sunrise Sunday. Wind chill advisories will be more widespread that day.
