Today, I am excited to announce that Houston County, the City of Dothan, Troy University, and Auburn University's Economic & Community Development Institute are partnering to launch the Wiregrass 2030 Initiative. Wiregrass 2030's goal is to build a sustainable local job market in an age of increasing automation and technological advancement. It is an exciting topic and we anticipate more organizations to become partners soon.
This fall, we will hold a community input session where we will welcome everyone's input on how to best develop high-tech jobs in the Wiregrass. From this, and small focus group meetings we will be holding, we hope to develop a framework to put the Wiregrass on a path to a more high-tech local economy.
If you are interested in playing a part in this initiative, please let us know on our website and like our Facebook page.
Respectfully,
Brandon Shoupe
