Wiregrass Electric Cooperative presented an electrical safety demonstration to the second grade classes at Pinedale Elementary in early February.
The presentation included the "Safety City" display that teaches students the dos and don’ts around electric lines and equipment and how to protect themselves from electrical injury. It also educates, informs and instructs the students about how electricity is generated, transmitted and used through the use of visual aids including live electrical lines. The stars of the show, "Lightning Liz" and "Neon Leon", are shown in many different scenarios in a typical neighborhood and country setting and "light up" to illustrate how electricity can travel through people and objects.
The Safety City demonstration was conducted by Jessie Ingram, Manager of Energy Services; Deanna Albritton, Energy Services Rep; and Jason Thrash, System Engineer.
The program is available to schools, clubs, civic groups and organizations in Wiregrass Electric’s service area and is appropriate for all ages. Contact Jessie Ingram, WEC’s Manager of Energy Services, at jingram@wiregrass.coop or call 1-800-239-4602 for more information regarding this exciting, fun-filled and educational program.
