A lot of times, we work together, and we'll find ourselves working together as a group on a wide area of disasters ans stuff like that, so the training is very vital to us to make sure we're all on the same sheet of music,” said Chief Tim McDonald with the Dale County Sheriff's Office.
Members of law enforcement introduced their tactical officer training. It's part of the Wiregrass Aviation Support Program (WASP), a partnership of agencies across the region providing support during natural disasters, search and rescue missions and other efforts. The course gives officers the tools needed for flight safety and handling the latest equipment, while also improving their response time during emergencies.
"We have had a great partnership with the Dale County Sheriff's Office and their aviation unit for several years. So the citizens of the state need to realize and see that we actually work together, and that's the very importance of this training, is to make everyone proficient, knowing that we're talking the same language, understanding each other," said State Trooper Kevin Cook.
