Woman Charged with Promoting Prison Contraband 3rd Degree

On February 21, 2014 Jazmin Renae Cody conspired with inmate Jason Townes to bring cigarettes, smokeless tobacco, and a lighter into the Houston County Jail. An investigation was begun and the contraband was recovered after Ms. Cody had brought the contraband into the jail and concealed in an area for it to be recovered by a trustee and taken into the secure area of the Jail. Ms. Cody was developed as a suspect and was questioned and confessed to her involvement in the crime.
Also arrested was Inmate Jason Emmanuel Townes, B/M, 24 years old, of Moates St in Dothan, AL. He was arrested on one count of Promoting Prison Contraband 3rd degree, Attempt and one count of Conspiracy to Promote Prison Contraband, 3rd degree. Each of those charges has a $3,000 bond and he remains in the Houston County Jail on those and other unrelated drug charges.
