Dothan: Today Sunset Memorial Park honored the nation's fallen heroes during the Wreaths Across America Ceremony the event started at 11 AM with Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz narrating. The wreath laying ceremony is part of a nationwide recognition program.
The mission of Wreaths Across America is to have a wreath displayed on the grave of every veteran throughout the country. Sunset Memorial Park has the same goal to honor all the graves of fallen veterans in the Wiregrass with an evergreen wreath.
This is the fifth annual Wreaths Across America ceremony co-sponsored by Sunset.
Robert and Toni Byrd, owners of Sunset Memorial Park, are passionate about recognizing the many sacrifices made by the military and their families.
The truck carrying the wreaths arrived on Thursday at Sunset Memorial Park in Dothan. Individuals and businesses participated in the wreath laying ceremony by either sponsoring a wreath for $15 and/or placing the wreaths on the veteran graves across the Wiregrass.
