DOTHAN - HOUSTON COUNTY:   My son called me earlier with a question...Dad, do we have school Tuesday? He was not real pleased with my answer...YES!

Both Dothan City Schools and Houston County Schools will  be in session on Tuesday.

This morning the weather was nasty. Roads were in terrible condition. Roads were flooded. And most of this was as children were going to school and trying to get to school on time.

Then after they arrived at school safe and their parents were at work, all of a sudden Houston County School Supt. Tim Pitchford makes the decision to close the schools at 11:30 AM. This decision was made and placed the children in dangerous situations again as water was across roads and out of the ditches. The drain systems were working to contain the water and drain from the roads.

As the children were placed back on the roads and parents were having to leave work and make arrangements to care for the kids because Tim Pitchford decided for school to get out early, the weather cleared up and the rain stopped.

So now Houston County Schools will open again on Tuesday. Dothan City School Supt. Tim Wilder will follow Pitchford's lead and open the Dothan City Schools.

So far, almost each time Pitchford has made the decision to close the schools, the sun has come out.

To all of the children not wanting to attend school Tuesday, sorry...you got to go.

To the parent and employers, maybe Pitchford will not close early and cause parents turmoil as they work to make arrangements for their children to get out of school early.
