Name: Rhonda Pasibe

Occupation: Entrepreneur

Hometown: Dothan Native, Raised in Dothan, Graduate of Dothan High School

Party: Republican

Office Sought:  District 5 Commissioner

Election Date:  February 10, 2015

Family: Husband is Lieutenant Colonel Rodel Pasibe, daughter Raven Pasibe attends Troy University in Troy, son Rannon Pasibe attends NHS and daughter Raley Pasibe attends Carver Magnet Middle School.

Background: Raised in Dothan, Alabama. I started a business in Asia while my husband was assigned to the Embassy in Singapore as a Military Foreign Exchange Officer.  I am a strong believer in creating small business and that is what I set out to do and accomplished while living in Singapore.  I started a clothing business from the ground up traveling to Thailand, Korea and Malaysia.  I successfully launched my business on line while living in Asia.  I am a published freelance journalist.  I wrote for the Strait Times, a Singapore Newspaper, Simply Her Magazine and Young Parents Magazine.  I am a strong supporter of small business and believe this is the backbone of our economy.  I am grateful for the experience of living among other cultures in the world.  That experience has broadened my view of the world and enhanced my ability to promote a more global economy here at home.  I believe this global experience is a strength I would bring to District 5 and the City of Dothan.  My family also lived in Korea where I gained further knowledge and experience in Southeast Asia.  Integrating a family in a foreign land is a challenge not unlike integrating the ideas of the citizens of this great city.  Currently, I am working as the office manager at MedPlus. As a volunteer, I served as a Family Readiness Leader at Fort Rucker and served with the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society through the Twilight Organization. I am an active member at New Freedom Church and a member of the Pilot Club Dothan Chapter and also volunteer through several local ministry outreach programs.  I am an avid volunteer with Dothan City Schools and an Advocate for quality public education and founder of SOS “Save Our Schools.”

Platform: “Jobs, Jobs, Jobs and creating an environment for growth”…  A city that’s growing is a city that’s succeeding to meet the demands of today’s economical environment. The challenge we face is one we all must partner in.  I believe that I will contribute to reaching out to the global community to bring Dothan more opportunities for growth and investment.  If we want to grow a city where our children can stay and work, we have to expand our ability to recruit outside investment.  I would like nothing more than to serve the citizens of District 5, to work with the City leadership to create more opportunities for the people that call District 5 and Dothan home.  I believe we all share the same hope and dream of creating jobs, better opportunities, greater communication and strong public education.   As your Commissioner for District 5, I promise to be a listening ear and an advocate for change and economic development.  I want to keep the Public in Public Service and serve my community.  I am a go-getter and a strong advocate for those that do not have a voice.  I’m a firm believer that when a group of committed people work together, there is nothing they can’t accomplish.  I want to work for the Citizens of District 5 and protect our quality of life while also bringing about more opportunities for all of the citizens that are lucky enough to call Dothan home.  Call or email me with concerns and suggestions.  (334)648-0065, [email protected].
