HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) is a national organization and one of the many programs at the Alfred Saliba Family Services Center in Dothan. HIPPY provides educational support services to parents of 3 to 5 year-old children to better prepare these children for success in kindergarten by teaching early literacy and school readiness skills. Services are provided through home visits with parent educators for one-on-one interaction as well as through group meetings. Home visits are conducted weekly throughout the 30 week program cycle which will begin October 1, 2012. All services are provided at no cost to the enrolled families. HIPPY is in need of the following items to get their program ready for the upcoming HIPPY school year: Crayons (8 count), Glue Stick, Glue Bottle, Pencils, Child scissors, Scotch tape on dispenser, Craft sticks, Tooth picks, Brass fasteners, Single hole punch, Construction paper, Legal sized envelopes, Ziplock bags – quart and gallon, Pencil box & Masking tape. To make a donation or for more information, contact HIPPY Coordinator Collins Trott at 334-792-6255.

My child actually participates in this program & he's so very well. His instructor comes by every other week (she brings 2 weeks worth of curriculum) and my son and I have "homework" time and he thinks he's so grown!! :) I'll definitely donate some things & I think everyone should. Dothan doesn't have a lot of FREE programs so we should help this program out.
