(Read A Parable for the Super Committe Part 1 First) Dad: "Son, you need to make some changes and now! You can't keep going like this." .................Son: "I can't cut expenses now. I have too many extra activities planned. I promise that next year I will make some changes. But I need more money now or I will default on my credit card payments. And without an additional credit card, I can't keep doing what I am doing." ....................Dad: "Son, to send you more money out of my business, I will have to lay somebody off. Can't you cut some of your expenses and use that money topay the credit card bill?" ................... Son: "No I can't do that. I will be looking for the increase in myallowance and the new credit card by the end of this week." ...............The following week the son receives his increased allowance and new credit card and immediately goes out and throws a party. One of the father's employee loses his job and applies for unemployment benefits.
