384 high school anglers on Lake Martin

On Saturday March 1st 384 student anglers from 34 schools around the state of Alabama took to the waters of Lake Martin for the second Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association regional qualification tournament. 192 boats blasted off from Wind Creek State Park at 6:30 a.m. hoping to finish in the top 7 teams and qualify for the state championship. By the end of the day 600 bass were weighed in and all 600 were released alive with a total weight of 976 lbs. The top three boats from each school had their scores combined to determine the schools overall score and placement. Alabama Christian Academy took home the win followed by Arab High in 2nd, Wetumpka High 3rd, Alexandria High 4th, Fayettville High 5th, Tuscaloosa County 6th. Eufaula Anglers Dylan Pugh/Morgan Parmer finished 23rd with five fish for 8.99 lbs, Cassandra Gifford/Andy Moore 29th 5/8.76 and Cody Rosen/Zach Smith 78th 5/6.38 to give Eufaula a 7th place finish. Osbon/Hall 2/3.10 & Greer/Gissendaner 1/2.88
