           Aaron Jeffrie “Jeff” Shelley, a resident of Auburn, Alabama, and a former resident of Headland and Dothan, died Monday morning, March 21, 2016, in Auburn. He was 93.


            Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 25, 2016, in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan, with Reverend Billy Rich officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary in Headland.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 87, 545 West Main Street, Dothan, Alabama 36301.



            Mr. Shelley was born and reared in the Tolbert Community of Henry County, son of the late Robert Gordon Shelley and Vinnie Belle Miller Shelley. He served his country in Iwo Jima in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II. Mr. Shelley formerly lived in Headland and Dothan before moving to Auburn in 2012. He was formerly employed by Daniel Construction Company at the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant as a Labor Foreman. Mr. Shelley was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Dothan. A life member of the Brown’s Crossroads Masonic Lodge No. 529, he was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the D.A.V. No. 87. Mr. Shelley was preceded in death by his wives, Nevelle Riley Shelley and Viola Hartley Shelley, a sister, Mary Alice Mixon, and four brothers, Robert T. Shelley, Mallie “Dude” Shelley, Samford “Sam” Shelley, and Grover Shelley, and a son-in-law, David Henthorne.


            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Paula Shelley Haralson (Roger), Macon, GA; Debbie Shelley Henthorne, Auburn; a step-daughter, Cindy Hartley Tanton (Frank), Dothan; a step-son, James Hartley (Ann), Mobile, AL; two sisters, Rose Capps (Jackie), Webb, AL; and Gwen Doss, Waco, TX; two brothers, Frank Shelley, Headland; and Carl Ray Shelley, Alexandria, LA; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
