Alice Reeves Rhodes passed away in Florala, AL on July 5, 2014 at the age of 78. Alice was predeceased by her loving husband Roy of 55 years. They were married in Florala, AL on February 2, 1958. Alice is lovingly remembered by daughter Alicia McDaniel and husband Tommy, granddaughter Marlena McDaniel, and granddaughter Monica McDaniel Elmore and husband Michael, and great-grandsons Gordon, Sheldon, and Ranger, all of Madison, AL; son Roy Rhodes, III and wife Mary, and grandchildren Justin, Cory, Blake, and Joy Rhodes of Youngsville, NC; daughter Cheri Cutten and husband David and grandchildren Stephen, Timothy, and Robin Cutten of Huntsville, AL; and son Rev. Dave Rhodes and wife Elise and grandchildren Davis, Wesley, Katie, and Sarah Rhodes of Chickasaw, AL.
Alice was born in Florala, Alabama on May 15, 1936. She graduated from Covington County High School in 1954 and graduated from Auburn University in 1958. Alice was a homemaker and later worked as a math teacher at Enterprise High School for 25 years.
Alice is remembered as a loving and supportive Wife, a great Mom, and a Church and Community Leader. Some of Alice’s many awards and accomplishments are: 1978-1980 President of Alabama Federation of Women’s Clubs, 1996 -1997 Enterprise City Schools Teacher of the Year, and 1980 Alabama Senate Resolution 203 for accomplishments.
Searcy Funeral Home of Enterprise is handling the arrangements. The Family requests Memorials to First United Methodist Church, 217 S. Main Street, Enterprise, AL 36330.
The visitation will be on Tuesday July 8th from 5 to 7 pm at First United Methodist Church, 217 South Main Street, Enterprise, AL 36330.
The Funeral will be Wednesday July 9th at 11 am at First United Methodist Church. Burial to follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery, 1021 Geneva Highway, Enterprise, AL 36330.
