MIDLAND CITY. . .Allen Lamar Watson, a former resident of the Sylvan Grove Community, near Midland City, died Thursday morning, October 1, 2015, in the Wesley Manor Retirement Center in Dothan. He was 86.

            Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 3, 2015 in the Sylvan Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Dr. Jerry M. Dooling officiating.  Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. in the sanctuary of the Sylvan Grove United Methodist Church.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sylvan Grove Cemetery Fund, c/o Dinah Woodham, 992 County Road 531, Midland City, AL 36350.

            Mr. Watson was born and reared in the Ashford area, son of the late Xavier Watson and Mattie Arnold Watson. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Watson lived in Dothan and Napier Field before moving to the Sylvan Grove Community in 1989. He was a retired employee of Pemco Aeroplex, formerly Hayes Aircraft. Mr. Watson was a member of the Sylvan Grove United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Pearl Keel Watson, and a granddaughter, Candace Lynn Morris .

            Surviving relatives include his son and caregiver, Wyndle Enfinger (Mary Lynn); a daughter, Carolyn Morris; a son, Allen D. Watson (Debbie); eight grandchildren, Jody Enfinger (Angie), Rebecca Stafford (Craig), Pamela Hall (Ronald), Natalie Fears (Brian), Sid Morris (Christina), Julie Bradburn (Allan), Allen Watson (Cassie), David Watson (Misti); nineteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Ronald Hall, Sid Morris, Jody Enfinger, Craig Stafford, Wyndle Enfinger and David Helms.
