Alton Wright Bonner of Daleville, AL passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at his home.  He was 80.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory in Daleville with Pastor Victor Bonner officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in Daleville Memorial Gardens with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory of Daleville directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until service time.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and Resource Center, P.O. Box 1170, Dothan, AL 36302.

Mr. Bonner was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Archie, Arley and Erston Bonner; two sisters, Lois Dutton and Eathil Viggers.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Ellen R. Bonner, Daleville, AL; daughter, Nancy Medley, Daleville, AL; son, Jamie Cobb, Daleville, AL, Michael Bonner (Deb), Springdale, AR, John Douglas (Paula), Soddy Daisy, TN; brother, Victor Bonner Jr. (Faye), Tuscaloosa, AL; 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family wishes to thank the many caregivers, medical-staff, friends and family who have been so supportive.  Not only did you take care of him, but you also let us cry on your shoulder, listened when we needed to talk, and gave us hugs when we most needed them.
