Anita Delana Brown, 83, passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 at Dale Medical Center.  Anita was born January 7, 1932 in Cottonwood, Alabama.  She attended school and grew up in Columbus Georgia where she eventually met her late husband of 56 years, William Thomas Brown, Jr.  After many years of extensive travel with the government, raising their children and retirement, she and Bill settled in Ozark, Alabama, which they proudly called home.  Anita is preceded in death by her father, Lee H. Holmes, her mother, Alie L. Holmes, and her brother, Leon Holmes.

Anita is survived by her sister Miriam Watford of Columbus Georgia, her son Carl Thomas Brown and his wife Dian of San Lorenzo California, her daughter Gail Brown Faulconer and her husband Jim, of Charlottesville Virginia, her grandson, James William Faulconer, lll and his wife, Libbie, her granddaughters Leigh Katherine Delana Faulconer and Caroline Elizabeth Faulconer and her two great grandchildren, Ella Blue Faulconer and William Hunter Faulconer, all of Charlottesville, Virginia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Anita was an incredible woman.  She loved and was loved by so many.  She was a kind and generous person who never met a stranger.  She touched the lives of so many with her love and laughter and was the true definition of a loyal friend.  Her family was number one in her life and she never let a day go by that she did not let them know how much she loved them.  She was Nita to most, Mom to her children, Meme to her grandchildren and great- grandchildren and Mama Anita to those whom she loved as her own.  Her life was defined by the joy that each brought to her life and for that we are thankful and blessed.

Anita was true to her faith, her church was her core and her constant foundation.

Her service will be held August 25th at 11:00 at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Visitation will be at 10:00 to receive family.

A graveside burial will follow at Woodlawn Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 246 Church Ave.  Ozark, Al 36360.
