Mrs. Martha Annette Glass Merritt, age 90, of Ashford passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015.


Born September 8, 1924 in Ashford to the late George Harvey and Willie Earl Hogan Glass, Mrs. Annette was a member of Watermark Church. A Sunday School teacher for over 60 years, Mrs. Annette taught all different ages and participated in many committees. She was also active in WMU and the Benevolent Committee. Mrs. Annette also loved to cook, sew, and fish.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray Merritt and a sister, Edna Earl Glass.


Survivors include her sons, Raymond (Carol) Merritt and Phil (Deloris) Merritt of Ashford, Charles (Elizabeth) Merritt of Albany, GA, and Wayne Merritt of Wicksburg; her sisters, Willie Frank Kirkland and Eugenia Towns; her brother, George “Buddy” (Linda) Glass; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.


Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Saturday, March 7, 2015 from Watermark Church in Ashford with Reverend Todd Thorpe officiating. Burial will follow in Ashford City Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 2 PM until service time, Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Watermark Church in Ashford.


In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to Annie Armstrong, 4200 North Point Parkway, Alpharetta, GA  30022-4176.
