DOTHAN. . .Annie Jewel Davis Segars, a resident of Dothan, died Wednesday morning, February 18, 2015. She was 96.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 22, 2015, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Mike Griggs officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL 36303.

            Mrs. Segars was born in Byron, Georgia and was reared in Dale County, north of Ozark. She lived in the Dothan area since 1957. Mrs. Segars was a member of the First Baptist Church of Montgomery and was a former member of Peniel Baptist Church, near Skipperville. She was a retired employee of Dothan Manufacturing Company and the Dothan Progress. Mrs. Segars was preceded in death by her father, Alpheus Cleveland Davis and her mother, Mina Heath Shelley, her husband, Alvin Marcus Segars, a son, Billy Mac Segars, a daughter-in-law, Norma Watson Segars, three grandchildren, Leigh Segars, Kristie Metcalf, and Richard Beeghly, four sisters, Pauline Lyles, La Merle Scott, Gladys Dykes, and Virginia Woodham, and two brothers, Buford Davis and Thomas Gulledge.

            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Martha Hughes (Jack), Dothan; and Hilda Eiselen (Alvin), Gulfport, MS; three sons, Colonel (U.S. Army, Retired), Jerry Segars, Headland; Marcus Edward Segars (Myra), Wetumpka, AL; and Kenneth Segars (Imogene), Wicksburg; a brother, Billy Ray Gulledge (Pearl), Enterprise; grandchildren, Paul Segars (Patty), Whitney Howell (Lt. Col. Stephen Howell), Daniel Segars (Heather), Brandy White (Shane), Jerrett Segars (Brandie), David Mims (Kathy), Richard Hughes, Jackie Whitehead (Matt), Chris Speigner (Brenda), Rick Brooks, Megan Eiselen, David Hughes (Lottie), Billy Hughes, Donnie Hughes, Shelby Beeghly, Donna Lisle, and James Lisle; a host of great and great-great-grandchildren.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Paul Segars, Daniel Segars, Richard Hughes, David Mims, Rick Brooks, Chris Speigner, and Matt Whitehead.
