Barbara “Susie” Skvasik

 

Susie, age 56, went to be with our Lord and Savior on October 21, 2013 after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her mother, daughter, sister, and other loved ones when she received her wings.

 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 1 to 2 P.M. and the service will be held immediately following at Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, 2414 Hartford Highway, Dothan, Al. Burial will be at Bluff Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Ashford, Al.

 

The service will be officiated by Pastor Mike Grimes. Flower will be accepted or contributions can be made to Grandview Baptist Church Building Fund, 2400 Forrester Rd, Dothan, Al.

 

Susie was born on September 13, 1957 here in Dothan, Al and has lived here all her life. She had a successful career as a registered nurse and was presently employed by Wal-Mart. Susie’s greatest love was her daughter, Brandi Leigh Whittaker and grandson, Deandre’ Alexander Smith. Susie loved with all her heart and was loved by many. She had a kind spirit and loving soul. She loved the Lord and was not afraid of going home.

 

Proceeding Susie was her brother, Randall Kent Davis, and her father, Ulas Kent Davis.

 

Susie is survived by her daughter, Brandi Whittaker and husband, Sam, one grandson, Deandre’ Smith, her mother, Martha Sanders Davis and sister, Kim Davis Johns and husband, Richard. She also leaves one niece, Haley Marie Winner and husband, Will, along with two great nephews, Juilian and Clark and one great niece, Penny Marie Winner and three special cousins, David Marshall, his son, Nathan and Donna McClung. Susie had many cousins and close friends.

 

Active and honorary pallbearers will be Sonny Tolar, Joe Tolar, Tom Davis, Vickie Chapman, Patsy Holmes, Pam Devane Merritt, April Marshall, Carol Shirah, Joey Skvasik and Steve Dozier.
