Benny Rex Watkins, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015. He was 68.


Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2015 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.


Rex was born December 30, 1946 in Houston County and lived the early part of his life in Ashford and Columbia. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator with APAC and Couch and at the time of his retirement he was working with Wiregrass Construction. Rex was an avid Nascar fan and Alabama Football fan.


Survivors include his wife Patsy Watkins; sons, Jeff Watkins and Wayne (Kendra) Watkins; a daughter, Misty Watkins Mizell; step-sons, Billy (Joy) Tice, Bobby (Mary) Tice, and David (Cindy) Tice; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother Billy Joe (Evelyn) Watkins; sisters, Jean Moss, Elaine Rogers, Faye (J.W.) Holder, and Edna (Louie) Langford; sister-in-law, Martha Watkins; numerous nieces and nephews.
