HEADLAND…Bernice Hickman Adkins, a resident of Headland, died Tuesday morning, October 21, 2014, in the Wesley Manor Retirement Center, Dothan. She was 92.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 22, 2014, in the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Griggs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in the church sanctuary.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Church, 2506 State Highway 134 East, Headland, AL 36345 or Gentiva Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302.

            Mrs. Adkins was a lifelong resident of Headland, daughter of the late Wesley Monroe Hickman and Julia Kirkland Hickman. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, the Women’s Sunday School Class, the W.M.U. and the Golden Agers. Mrs. Adkins was preceded in death by her husband, Murray M. Adkins and two sons, Maxie Adkins and Danny Adkins.

            Surviving relatives include three grandchildren, Lindy Armstrong, Dothan; Lisa Miller (Danny), Newton; Kelly Ebarb (Joshua), Dothan; six great-grandchildren, Brent Armstrong (Lindsey), Bradley Armstrong, Ellana Newsome (Norman), Tyler Miller, Keygan Ebarb, and Jase Ebarb; four great-great-grandchildren; several cousins.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Danny Miller, Joshua Ebarb, Norman Newsome, Brent Armstrong, Tyler Miller, and Bradley Armstrong.
