Bertha Cope of Samson, Alabama passed away in Goose Creek, South Carolina on January 13, 2015.   She was 93.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Samson with Rev. Sam Totten officiating.  Burial will follow at Travelers Rest Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.  The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Mrs. Cope was born on July 29, 1921 to the late Cleve Crews and Lena Simpler Crews.  She resided in Samson most of her life.  She was active in her church.  She worked many years at West Tex in Samson and retired from there. She was a seamstress by trade.  Mrs. Cope loved to cook and take food to people.  She moved to live with her granddaughter in Goose Creek, South Carolina in July of 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Yvonne Cope; daughter, Helen Marie Gilmore; and a brother, Bud Crews. 

She is survived by one granddaughter, Felecia “Lisa” Gilmore Rzoska, husband, Jeffrey; three great grandchildren; Kyle Owens (Rebecca), Kayla Owens and Blake Rzoska; two  great great granddaughters;  Makaila Owens and Madalynn Owens; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved greatly.
