Mrs. Bessie Mae Morris, of Cottonwood, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016. She was 80.


Bessie was born June 30, 1935 in Henry County to the late Charlie and Lorena Givens Johnson. She was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church and enjoyed cooking, singing, doing word search puzzles, and spending time with her family.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A. D. “Boots” Morris; three sisters; three brothers; a granddaughter, Stephanie Toole; and a great-grandson, Holden Toole.


Bessie is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Billy) Johnson; her son, Derrill (Jenny) Morris; her sisters, Willene Givens and Betty Jean Helms; her brothers, R. V. Johnson and Raymond Johnson; her grandchildren, Scott Toole, Steven Toole, Sharron Lott, Victoria Morris, Matthew Morris, and Patrick Morris; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, July 1, 2016 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Chuck Spivey and Reverend Dale Worley officiating. Burial will follow in Beulah Cemetery.


The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM, Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the funeral home.


The family will be accepting flowers.
