ABBEVILLE. . .Betty Braddy Herndon, a resident of Abbeville, died Thursday morning, June 11, 2015, in the Extendicare Health & Rehabilitation Center in Dothan. She was 83.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 13, 2015, in the Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Ross Kilpatrick and Reverend David B. Howle officiating.  Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church “Children’s Fund”, 310 Dothan Road, Abbeville, AL 36310 or to the Wiregrass Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302.

            Mrs. Herndon was a lifelong resident of Abbeville, daughter of the William Clarence Braddy and Lois Sowell Braddy. She was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Herndon was also a member of the Matrons Club and the Abbeville Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, A. W. Herndon, and two brothers, Jessie Braddy and Billy Braddy.

            Surviving relatives include three daughters, Sandra Taylor (Rhett), Abbeville; Sherri Beckworth (Mark), Headland; and Susan Hall (Greg), Panama City Beach, FL; a son, Amos Wiley Herndon, Jr., Abbeville; a sister, Leah Marie Holton (Bill), Dothan; seven grandchildren, Chris Whiddon (Megan), Josh Taylor (Heather), Jon Taylor (Christi), Lauren Hall, Leah Glazier (Jimmy), Adam Hall, and Amos Wiley Herndon, III; five great-grandchildren, Amos Wiley Herndon, IV, Cassidy Taylor, Finley Whiddon, Addie Whiddon, and Wlliam Rhett Taylor.
