Mrs. Betty Grace Smith of the Echo Community passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014, at her residence.  She was 72 years of age.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Brown officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 13, from 3:00pm until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Molly Johnson or Libby Claire Rushing in Skipperville.

Mrs. Smith was born April 22, 1942 in New Hope, Alabama.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Mattie E. Hall and her step-father, Theo C. Hall; her husband, Gerald Douglas Smith; her step-son, Ricky Smith; two sisters, Dorothy Cooper and Sherry Whitman; and her brother, Lonnell Miller.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughters, Brenda Lee Snell and her husband, David of Newville, Betty Jo Vernon and her husband, Tim of Ozark; five step-daughters, Teresa Payne of Ozark, Becky Smith of Ozark, Tammy Vinson of Columbia, Dawn Summerlin of Newton, Ga., and Michele Cox of Americus, Ga.; her sisters, Joann Hartzog and her husband, Hayward of Deatsville, AL. and Jennifer Bowen of Ozark; her brother, Leon Miller and his wife, Betsie of Kansas City, KS; her three grandchildren, Cody Alan German, James Allen Cornett and Shelby Rae German; one great-grandson, Rhett Alan German; also surviving are her step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
