Betty Huffines Blackwell, 83, a resident of Newton, died Thursday August 6, 2015 at Wesley Manor.

Graveside services will be held 4 pm Saturday August 8, 2015 at Newton City Cemetery with Rev. Shane Traylor officiating and Robert Byrd with Sunset Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Blackwell was born September 21, 1931 in Reidsville, NC and she resided there the early years of her life. She was employed as a receptionist at medical clinics in the Wiregrass area for several years. Mrs. Blackwell lived in Newton for 7 years prior to moving to Brighton, Colorado, Billings, Montana, and then to Greensboro, NC before moving back to Newton in 2013. She was a member of the Newton Baptist Church and was a firm believer in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Survivors include her sons, Dean (Zeny) Blackwell, Richard (Marie) Blackwell and Christopher (Kim) Blackwell; her daughter, Kimberly (Mark) Jones; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
