LEVEL PLAINS. . .Betty Jean Blankenship Halstead, a resident of Level Plains, died Monday afternoon, March 30, 2015, at her home.


            Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 1, 2015, in the Faith Assembly of God Church, 499 Meredith Street, Enterprise, with Pastor Huey P. Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in the church sanctuary.  Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL 36303.


            Mrs. Halstead was born and reared in Shelby County, Alabama, daughter of the late Oscar Theodore Blankenship and Lorraine Daisy Ellison Blankenship. She lived in Panama City, Florida before moving to Level Plains. Mrs. Halstead was a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church in Enterprise. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chris Halstead, and two sons, Todd Gilliland and Wendell Halstead.


            Surviving relatives include four daughters, Debbie Halstead, Dothan; Penny Newton (Randy), Level Plains; Becky Wyatt, Panama City; and Shannon Halstead, Level Plains; two sons, Todd Halstead, Level Plains; and Michael Halstead, Dothan; two brothers, Robert Blankenship, Dothan; and Jimmy Blankenship, Panama City; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


            The family would like to express their appreciation to Covenant Hospice including, Tina Nagy and Jennie May, for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Halstead during her illness.
