Betty Jean Smith Deal of Dothan, died Monday, August 5, 2013, at her residence. She was 84.

 

Graveside services will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Reverends Steve Trail and Joe Wyatt officiating and Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, August 6, 2013. Flowers will be accepted.

 

Mrs. Deal was born June 11, 1929, the daughter of the late Albert and Bertie Mae Smith. She was a homemaker who enjoyed playing her guitar. The joys of her life were her family, friends, and her work for the Lord.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Dorman Deal, her parents, two brother, Maxie and Charles Smith, her sisters-in-law, Ethel Adams, Irene Deal and Norma Deal, her brothers-in-law, Hansford Hicks, Doran Deal, John Adam and Turner Redmond.

 

Survivors include three sons, Tony Deal and his wife, Darlene of Phenix City, AL; Steve Deal of St. Petersburg, FL; and Ron Deal of Webb; sister-in-law, Nellie Hicks, Thelma Redmond, Zadie Smith, and Dot Smith, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren , and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

We will miss her strong presence as our matriarch, solid wisdom, and gentle smile in our daily lives.
