Betty Kingry Johnson, a resident of Dothan, died Saturday, November 2, 2013, at her home. She was 83.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at the Taylor United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Hawkins officiating. Cremation will follow with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 p.m. until service time on Tuesday.

Mrs. Johnson was born May 18, 1930 in Taylor, AL. She married LTC James Patrick Johnson and they lived in various locations while he served in the U. S. Army. Following his death, she lived in Columbus, GA with her two children, Patricia and James Johnson, both of whom preceded her in death. Later in life, she lived with and raised her granddaughter, Patricia in Mexico Beach for several years. She enjoyed gardening and loved spending time at the beach. She was a loving wife, mother,  cousin and friend. Most of all an awesome granny and auntie. We all had years of laughs with her firecracker spirit. She will be missed by her many friends and neighbors. She was a member of the Taylor United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her granddaughter, Trish Johnson, Dothan; two aunts, Frances Roberts and Johnnie Thomas and many Neslund, Snell and Thomas cousins.
