Betty Lou Childs Calhoun of Hartford passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013 in Wiregrass Nursing Home. She was 73.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 18, 2013 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Dell Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Jimmy Bottoms of Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral services at the church. The community will provide lunch for the family at 11:00 AM at the church.


Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to Wesley Chapel UMC Fellowship Hall.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Elton and Clara Lou Fain Childs; a sister, Annie Jane Childs Ozgowicz.


She is survived by one son, Greg (Elaine) McLaney of Hartford; one daughter, Tonya Calhoun Paquin of Geneva; six grandchildren, Zack (Lori) McLaney of Troy, Haley McLaney (Tony) Gillo of Troy, Joby McLaney, Spence Griffin, Dacey Paquin, and Lynsey Paquin, all of Geneva; five very special great-grandchildren; one brother AF “Johnny” Childs of Hartford; two nephews, Chase (Megan) Childs of IL, and Brian Ozgowicz.


The family would like to thank Gentiva Home Health and Hospice and the staff at Wiregrass Nursing Home for the care given over the past several months to our loved one. The family would like to say a very special thank you to her step-granddaughter, April Leger of Hartford for helping take such good care of Granny these past several months.
