Mr. B.H. “Buck” Knight passed away on Monday, September 8, 2014 at his residence in Level Plains.  He was 93.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Level Plains with Reverend Mike Foreman officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Enterprise directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Knight was born February 14, 1921 in Coffee County to the late Ruben and Annie Mae Roberts Knight.  He was a veteran of WWII.  Following an honorable discharge from service in February 1946, he earned his A&P License and Fixed Wing instrument ratings.  He worked as a Tech inspector on Fort Rucker for 26 years and taught Fixed Wing flying for 33 years as owner of Buck’s Flying Service, logging 17,000 flight hours.  He was a Master Mason and Shriner for over 50 years.  He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Level Plains.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joicy B. Knight; his parents, Ruben and Annie Mae Roberts Knight; and 2 brothers.

Survivors include 2 sons: Edward F. Knight (Mary) of Weimar, TX, and David E. Knight (Diana) of Williamsburg, VA; 2 daughters: Debra L. Combos (Spencer) of Cary, NC, and Fran Scheel (Michael) of Enterprise, AL; 1 sister: Bobbie Chambers of Enterprise, AL; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
