Billie Jean Powell Stuart

Billie Jean Powell Stuart, a resident of Dothan, died Thursday night, January 23, 2014 at Flowers Hospital. She was 86.

 

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Newton officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:15 p.m. Saturday prior to service time.

 

Mrs. Stuart was born March 13, 1927 in Mossy Head, Florida and lived the early years of her life in Crestview, Florida. After her marriage she resided in various areas of the United States with her husband during his military career. She has been a resident of Dothan for the past 48 years and attended Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.

 

Mrs. Stuart is predeceased by her husband, James E. Stuart; two sisters, Sybil Davis and Mary June Young and a brother, Walter “Buddy” Carroll.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Martha Harrell (Nolan) of Slocomb; a son, Johnnie Stuart (Theresa) of Dothan; grandchildren, Ashley Stuart Murphy (William) and James Michael Stuart (Victoria Grau); great-grandchildren, Wesley James Murphy, Karaleigh Martinez and Alexander Martinez.
