Obituary:  Billy Dean Powers

 

Mr. Billy Dean Powers of Enterprise passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the family residence.  He was 76.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22 in the Chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Enterprise with Reverend Donnie Marler officiating.  Burial with full military honors will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continuing until service time.

Mr. Powers was born May 28, 1937 in Coffee County to the late Jessie and Lena Powers.  He retired from service as a pilot in the U.S. Army, having served two tours in Vietnam.  He was a dedicated member of Park Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Sue Johnson Powers, Enterprise, AL; his children:  William Dale Powers (Candy), Myrtle Beach, SC; Stephanie Powers, Enterprise, AL; Teresa Revert (Melvin), Enterprise, AL; Leslie Powers, Taylor, AL; Janet Lehman, Enterprise, AL; Deborah Powers, Madison, WI; his stepchildren: Lynn Goodson, Dothan, AL (Tim); Tim Salter, Enterprise, AL; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; his brother: Johnny Powers (Syble), Enterprise, AL; his sisters: Pat Hudson (Jimmy) and Joan Blazer (Jessie), all of Elba, AL; numerous nieces and nephews.
