NEWVILLE. . .Billy G. Harrison, a resident of Enterprise, formerly of Newville, died Tuesday morning, August 2, 2016, at his home. He was 82.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 6, 2016, in the Union Springs Baptist Church, near Newville, with Reverend Guy Causey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Union Springs Baptist Cemetery Fund, c/o Josie Whiddon, 359 County Road 145, East, Headland, AL 36345.


            Mr. Harrison was born and reared in the Old Center community of Henry County, son of the late Clarence Hubert Harrison and Hettie Belle Cureton Harrison. He was a graduate of Newville High School. Mr. Harrison served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Old Center United Methodist Church and attended the Union Springs Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Echo Masonic Lodge. Mr. Harrison lived in the Old Center community most of his lifetime before moving to Enterprise in June 2016. He was retired from Dyncorp, Inc. at Ft. Rucker as an aircraft mechanic and also served as a Business Representative for I.A.M. District 75. Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by two children, Billy Hubert Harrison and Kimberly Dawn Harrison.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Katrine Pitts Harrison, Enterprise; two daughters,  Brenda Smith (Mark), Dothan; and Deborah Motley (Devane), Enterprise; two sisters, Jo Palmer (John), Odessa, FL; and Gloria Jackson, Ozark;  three grandchildren, Ryan and Austin Smith, both of Dothan; and Joey Motley, Auburn University.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Eugene Jackson, Adam Jackson, Joseph Howell, Gene Arnold, Mike Cain, David Thomas, James Jones and Joey Motley.
