           COLUMBUS, GA…Billy Joe Jones, a resident of Columbus, formerly of Newville, died Sunday morning, April 12, 2015, in St. Francis Hospital. He was 81.

            Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. (E.D.T.) Friday, April 17, 2015, in the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. (E.D.T.) Thursday at the mortuary in Columbus.

            Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, James Nathan Jones, Sr. and Belle Knowles Jones;  a sister, Lucille Jones Bond; four brothers, A.T. Jones, Leon Jones, Robert Jones, and Jimmy Jones; three sisters-in-law, Eleanor Jones, Geraldean Jones, and Ruth Jones.

            Surviving relatives include his wife, Gladys Sasser Jones, Columbus; three sons, Danny Jones (Leslie), New York, Ron Jones (Charlene), Smiths Station, AL, and Drew Jones, Florida; step-children; Jan, Wanda, Pat, Linda, and Carol; a brother, Nathan J. Jones (Agnes), Newville and a sister, Edna Jones Parmer, Columbus, GA; a granddaughter, Amanda; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren also survive.
