ABBEVILLE…Billy Moring, a resident of Abbeville, died early Friday afternoon, October 17, 2014, at his home. He was 89.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 26, 2014, in the Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Ross Kilpatrick officiating. Graveside services, with full military honors, will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. in the church sanctuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church “Building Fund”, 310 Dothan Road, Abbeville, AL 36310.


            Mr. Moring was born and reared in Abbeville, son of the late James Daniel Moring and Mary C. Wells Moring. He was a 1943 graduate of Abbeville High School. At an early age, Mr. Moring enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served two years before enlisting in the Army Reserve Unit in Abbeville.  In 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and retired in 1975 with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Mr. Moring lived in various locations in the U.S. and overseas while serving in the military and returned to Abbeville in 1975.  After his military career, he was employed by Daniel Construction Co. at the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant. Mr. Moring was a member Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and also volunteered for twenty consecutive years with Carpenters For Christ. He was a member of the Bradley-Keller American Legion Post and was a former member of the Masonic Order. Mr. Moring was preceded in death by his wife of sixty three years, Myrtle Money “Chicken” Moring, on September 17, 2014; a sister, Martha J. Flournoy, and two brothers, Robert C. Moring and Earl Moody Moring.


            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Mary Esther Moring (Robert Bruce Rackleff), Washington, D.C.; and Renee Moring Debaste, Seattle, WA; two sons, James Robert Moring, Charleston, S.C.; and B. K. Moring (Amy), St. John’s, FL; seven grandchildren, Danielle Debaste, Billy Debaste (Katie), Dylan Moring, Cody Moring, Alexandria Moring, Hannah Moring, and Grace Moring; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law from the Money family, Florence Armstrong, Abbeville; Barbara Chrouser (Daniel), Colorado Springs, CO; Jim Money (Ruth), Columbus, GA; and Lucille Money, Dothan.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Billy Roch Debaste, Dylan Moring, Cody Moring, Jay Money, Bobby Armstrong, Jim Money, and Carl Money.


            The Moring family would like to especially thank all the caregivers that patiently cared for father and the family over the past eight years, and for all the prayers and support from professionals, friends, churches, and extended family.
