Blake McNiel, 24, a resident of Pansey, AL passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, January 26, 2015 at Liberty Baptist Church with Brother Coley Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Sunday.


Blake was born July 6, 1990 in Houston County and resided in Pansey all of his life. He was a 2008 graduate of Ashford High School and attended Wallace Community College where he received a degree in Carpentry. Blake currently worked with the Houston County Sheriff's Department as a Corrections Officer. Blake loved the outdoors; he was an avid coon hunter and fisherman. He was an Auburn football fan. Blake was a member of and loved attending Liberty Baptist Church where he had taught RA's. Blake was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, George C. McNiel, his uncles, Jimmy McNiel and Woody McNiel, his maternal grandfather, Gareth Ingram, and special cousins, Morgan Wheelus and Kaylee McCall Ingram.


Survivors include his parents, Rex and Sherrie McNiel; his grandmothers, Lottie McNiel and Edna Ingram; his aunts and uncles, Krista (Jerry) Tew, Joette McNiel, Lance (Kathy) Ingram, Ray (Linda) McNiel; his cousins, Kassie (Tyler) Johnson, Nathan Puckett, Grace Ingram, Haley (JJ) Clemmons, Brittany (Blake) Wheelus, Allen McNiel, and Amanda McNiel; second cousins, Lane Wheelus, Clayton and Peyton Johnson, and Jax Clemmons; his special girlfriend, Morgan Harden and her son, Eli; a host of aunts, uncles, and friends also survive.


Serving as active pallbearers will be Walter Pike, James Watson, Anthony Sitzler, Terrell Owens, Kenneth Hill, and Raymond Gross. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Houston County Sheriff's Department.
