BOBBY JOE CURETON

TAYLOR… Bobby Joe Cureton, a resident of Taylor, died early Thursday evening, May, 22, 2014. He was 57.

            Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 25, 2014, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend John Edward Cureton and Reverend Mark Bristow officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery, Capps Community. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary. At other times, the family will be at the home of a brother, Kenneth Cureton, 301 Dogwood Avenue, Columbia, AL.

            Mr. Cureton, son of the late Carl Edward Cureton and Johnnie Pearline Gray Cureton, was born in Abbeville and reared in Cowarts, AL. He formerly lived in Cottonwood and Webb before moving to Taylor in 2010. Mr. Cureton was currently employed with Wayne Farms in Dothan as a truck driver. He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Sue Spelts, four brothers, John Edward Cureton, James Earl Cureton, Charles Cureton and Jerry Lynn Cureton, a niece, Judy Ann Cureton, and a nephew, Michael Cureton.

            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Erin Owens (Dustin), Columbia; and Amanda Cureton, Taylor; a step-son, Jonathan Bland (Madie), Los Angeles, CA; three brothers, Kenneth Cureton (Terry), Columbia; Waymon Cureton (Sharon), Cottonwood; and Steve Cureton (Dr. Sharon Faye Cureton), Daphne, AL; five grandchildren, Brooklynn Bland, Jayda Cureton, Bradley Turner, Kadyn Cureton and Gabby Owens; a brother-in-law, Tommy Spelts, Bluffton, GA; and a sister-in-law, Merle Cureton, Hodgesville; mother of his children, Gloria Miller, Meridian, MS; and several nieces and nephews, including Chase Cureton and Grant Cureton.

             Serving as active pallbearers will be Kevin Cureton, Dustin Owens, Chase Cureton, Grant Cureton, Stephen Cureton, Jonathan Bland, David Carrasco, and Mike Holland.
