Bobby Stout was born in Carter County, Tennessee on Wednesday, June 11, 1941. He grew up in Buckingham, Virginia and graduated from Buckingham Central High School in 1960.



He served in the US Army at Fort Rucker, Alabama and in Orleans, France. Upon returning to the United States, he and his wife, Jean, settled in Enterprise and he continued working as a Master A mechanic and foreman in military helicopter maintenance for 25 years. During his tenure, he was recognized by former Alabama Governor Albert Brewer for his contribution in developing a special tool that improved the quality of workmanship for helicopter maintenance. He retired in 1991 from DynCorp after surviving a second heart attack.



As one of the longest-surviving heart transplant patients, Bobby died just one month short of his 23rd anniversary of the transplant on April 19.



Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Novil E. Stout, his mother, Ardith Rosa Stout, his sister, Betty Huddleston, his nephew, John Huddleston, his nephew, Will Stout, his brothers-in-law, Richard Huddleston and Mo Junior Huddleston.



He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean Stout of Dothan, Alabama, his daughter, Sheila Stout Caldwell and son-in-law, Paul Caldwell of Rock Hill, South Carolina, his son, Robert Daniel Stout and daughter-in-law, Lori Stout of Savannah, Georgia, three grandchildren, Elise Logan Archie, Christopher Michael Stephens and Katie Scarlett Stout, and four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Archie, Hayden Archie, Harlowe Macdonald and Emerie Macdonald.



Memorial services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tommy White officiating and Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.



In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to The Heart 2 Heart Foundation, P. O. Box 2991, Rock Hill, SC 29732.




The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
