Brenda Faye Neilsen, 66, of Newton passed away Tuesday August 20, 2013 at a local hospital.


Funeral services will be held 5 pm Friday, August 23, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Coley Holloway officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-5 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Rd., Dothan, AL, 36303 or to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Rd., Montgomery, AL, 36111.


Mrs. Neilsen was born April 17, 1947 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and lived there the early part of her life and moved to Skipperville in 1975. She was a homemaker and has lived in Newton since 2002. She was of the Baptist Faith.


Survivors include her husband William Neilsen of Newton; sons, Glenn Greiner (Michele) of Mobile, AL, and Ed Greiner (Latrelle) of Sylvester, GA; daughters, Lisa Dodson (Mike) of Hubbard Lake, MI, and Glenda Smith (Andy) of Skipperville, AL; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jim Ziegler (Shelly) and Charlie Lewis (Pat); a sister Bonnie Haynes; several nieces and nephews also survive.
